Today we had a great time during our second day of caroling as a school in the gym.
Tomorrow we will exchange their home made gifts. If you don't have time making an ornament, students can make them tomorrow during Ignite.
In Math, some of the groups played "Empty the Bowl" and some students did a Christmas Tree math activity. We are starting to work on addition and subtraction strategies where students start with a number and break it into two parts to show equations for those amounts: (ie. for the number 5 it can be broken into 2+3, 1+4, etc)

Congratulations, Kindness Pod on your fantastic drumming performance today. It was wonderful to see all the families who were able to make it. If you weren't here, we will try to post a collection of videos and photos later today.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the Kindness Pod for your generosity in providing gifts for the Families Helping Families campaign. It was a great success and the families we have helped this year are grateful to you all.
Next week, the Kindness students are going to get in the spirit of the season through daily caroling and activities.
Please share these spirit notices with your child/children as we did not mention this in the busyness of today

Today's Bloggers:
Landis, Naveen, Anton, Kaitlyn, Nathan
We did our Beakerhead planning about the future. We are imagining and inventing an object in 3018, that is 1000 years from now!
I'm making a t.v so it can fit in your pocket and you can ask it to do anything.
I am designing a tower.
Mine will be a flying tower.
I'm redesigning a shoe. You can press a button and it can drive, wheels will come out and you push a button and they will go in.
I'm designing a fireplace. It is going to be white brick. It is going to have little details on it.
In math we played a bingo game with adding. You could knock people off. Whoever uses their bing chips first wins.
In literacy, we did Read to Partner and Read to Self.
In my Titanic group we are writing books about facts that we read. We searched some research about when it sunk. It sunk, April 10, 1912.
Ignite was super fun. I got to hammer nails and I made a door.
Mrs. Cox was so proud of the Kindness kids for their clean up after Ignite.
Families Helping Families is being accepted until Tomorrow. Thank you so much for all that you have given.
Please come to our drumming performance on Friday at 10:00. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start right at 10:00

The Kindness Pod has looked at technology over time in preparation for our Beakerhead challenge. This year's theme is imagine 3018! Today we looked at telephones, computers and forks and how much they have changed to become more efficient.
Please think about what our classrooms and homes would look like in 3018. What would you like to see improve and how could it?

The students had a great time in the book fair today!
The Kindness kids learned another new journaling technique today. Some learned Event Mapping and some learned how to do 1 minute sketches.
In math, the students are finished the rotations for ways to represent numbers. If you'd like, you can ask your child to show you how to represent number using number lines, ten frames, base 10, and expanded form (53 is 50 + 3) (129 is 100+20+9).
The students have a greater understanding of the value of a number depending on the place it is in.
Thank you to the families who are able to help our Families Helping Families campaign.
Eric Harvie families, if you are interested in helping…
We are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas. We are supporting 7 families from Colonel Fred J. Scott School.
