Ride to school day

Ride to School on June 4th, 2019
Bike to School day is a growing campaign that was initiated in 2014 and with the coming of 2019's Bike to School day, has spread to plenty of schools and is expected to have thousands of kids riding their bikes to school on June 4th!

At Bike to School Day, getting kids active and engaged with the outdoors, their bikes, and each other is a huge goal of ours. With the digital world becoming more and more interlaced with our world, it is important to remember the small initiatives that can keep you healthy and grounded. Bike to school day is a project that encourages students and their parents to take part in and build a healthy lifestyle while also showing them that it is fun and beneficial to do so.

The Zoo Crew had a fabulous first day of researching and observing animals.  We spent the morning exploring the zoo and the afternoon doing our first observation of the animals the students are studying.
A big thank you to all parents who volunteered today!

The Glenbow 1 group started a mini inquiry into the UN sustainability goals.

Attn: Vivo Parents

Hi all, we will be making smoothies and energy bites/granola bars on Tuesday May 28th at Vivo.  I have alerted Vivo regarding food allergies (i.e. nuts, tree nuts, etc.).  If you do not wish your child to participate or would like to send an alternative snack for this activity, please email me at jadisher@cbe.ab.ca.  Thanks so much! ~Julie

We had so much fun today playing with the brand new blue blocks.  This was our reward for winning the We Are Canadian Kids challenge.

Today we prepped candy bags to sell at this Saturday's Craft Fair.  If you'd like to come help sell our treats and water please email Mrs. Cox at njcox@cbe.ab.ca

We also fit Daily 5 into our schedule today as well as an amazing Peace Assembly hosted by the PM Kindergarten class.

Next week, the Vivo and Zoo groups will be on their Open Minds Trips all next week.  Volunteers please arrive at 8:15 at the front office.

We were so happy to see all of the families who came out last night for our Student Led Learning Walk.  The students were so proud to show off their puppets and their puppet shows.

Running For Reading
Starting next Monday, May 27th and running until
Thursday May 31st, we will hold our Running for Reading Activity. The sessions will run from 11:45-12:15. Students can walk or run and will enter their name at the end of each session for inclusion in the draw.
The draw will be held Friday June 1st and awards handed out that morning.

Today was packed full with preparations for our Student Led Learning Walk which will be held in the school Thursday evening 6:15-7:30.  You do not need to arrive right at 6:15 as we are hoping to have families arrived at different/staggered times to avoid crowding.

One of our Kindness Pod Mom's are organizing the Tuscany Small Business and Craft Fair this weekend.  Our school will have two tables set up, one for the Eco Team to sell some plants they have planted and one for snacks/refreshments/candy bags.  We are looking to have around 5 or 6 Kindness students (with parent supervision) come to manage/work the table for the snack/refreshments.  Some of the students have also been using their Ignite time to work on "Breathing Buddies" to sell at the table.  If your child is able to help out it is from 12-4 on Saturday.  Please contact Mrs. Cox at njcox@cbe.ab.ca to let her know what hours you can be there.

Zoo Kids had a presentation today from Dawn Hardy with the Calgary Zoo.  We studied 12 different biofacts and had a chance to talk about what we need to prepare for next week's trips!

The Zoo Crew and the Vivo group are very excited for their upcoming Open Minds week.
