Picture Retake - Monday
If you're child requires a picture re-take or was away for picture day, please make sure that they are aware that they will need to have their picture taken on Monday, 5th as all gr. 1/2 teachers will be away.  Please also put a note in their folders to give to their guest teacher.

Here are all of the amazing facts that the students told us after their Kananaskis In The Classroom workshop
Lepidoptera Facts
  • Butterflies and moths see flowers differently than humans
  • Butterflies fly in the day, moths fly at night
  • Their pupa stage is different
  • Moths make a cocoon and butterflies form a chrysalis
  • Their wings are made of little tiny scales
  • Lepidoptera taste from their feet
  • Lepidoptera  smell from their antennae 
  • Lepidoptera have a proboscis to drink nectar
  • Lepidoptera have small eyes
  • Wasps can lay eggs inside a caterpillar
  • When caterpillars move their heads to call for help, ants will come and then they get a sweet treat.
  • Lepidoptera have bones on their outside
  • Butterflies keep their wings closed when they are resting and moths keep them open
  • Moths have hairs on their antennae and butterflies are straight with a q-tip type top
  • Skippers are a butterfly but they are similar to a moth.
