Welcome Back!
We hope you all had a great spring break.
Today after Ignite we had a presentation by Mrs. Kinsman about our new We Are Canadian Kids initiative. We are learning about what it means to be a Canadian kid and how we can show kindness at school, especially during our lunch break where we are working hard to show kind, respectful behviour. Whichever Pod wins the secret challenges will get a chance to use the new blue blocks for an afternoon before the rest of the school.
Today the Wild Rose and Mountain View students had a chance to write and share about all of the fun things they did during their break.
This afternoon the Wild Rose and Mountain View students continued to learn about Alberta's history and how the Blackfoot used buffalo for their clothing, instruments, tools, shelter and food.
The zoo group are learning about documentaries in preparation of making a documentary about the animal they will study for the week while they are there. They have been discovering the purpose of documentaries and what they could include.
So far the students have come up with:
1. Interviews - talking to the camera
2. Teaching people about a topic that is interesting
3. Sharing photographs, artifacts, research and information
The Zoo students have been asked to try to create a short (2-3 min) documentary about something around their house they are interested in. Students can email the video to njcox@cbe.ab.ca or share the video on google drive to njcox@educbe.ca
The Glenbow Museum group went outside to journal about what we see, feel, hear and smell. I looked for rocks. They felt smooth and smelt weird.
In the Vivo group we did the "Don't Walk in the Hallways" initiative. We could do any move we wanted other than walking but we had to be quiet. We were also working on our heart maps. I added my family and things that I like.
Upcoming Dates:
Coulee Walk - Thursday 4th in the PM
Glenbow Museum School (Low/Shephard) - Monday 8 - Friday 12
Glenbow Museum School (Le) - Monday 15 - Thursday and the following Tuesday
Both of these groups are still significantly low on parent volunteers. If you are available, please let us know or sign up below:
